What is Animal Flow?
Animal Flow is a fitness practice that combines elements from various disciplines such as yoga, parkour, gymnastics, and animal movements to create a dynamic and engaging workout. It was developed by fitness educator and coach Mike Fitch in the early 2010s. The practice is centered around ground-based movements that mimic the fluid and primal motions of animals, hence the name "Animal Flow."
The movements in Animal Flow are designed to improve strength, flexibility, coordination, and overall body awareness. Participants perform a series of bodyweight exercises and flows that involve crawling, rolling, jumping, and other natural movements inspired by animals. These movements are often performed in a controlled and deliberate manner, emphasizing stability and mobility.
The practice can be adapted to various fitness levels and goals, making it suitable for beginners as well as more experienced individuals. Animal Flow sessions can be done indoors or outdoors, and they require minimal equipment, usually just a mat.
Animal Flow is not just about physical benefits; it also encourages creativity and mindfulness through its fluid and varied movements. It has gained popularity in the fitness community as an engaging and functional way to enhance physical fitness while exploring movement patterns beyond traditional exercise routines.
